Activate Your Permanent FSUID, Email Account, and Access the myFSU Portal

Studying at Florida State University means you will need a computer account and student email address almost before we can say, "GO NOLES!"

You may activate your permanent FSUID, FSU email account, and enter the myFSU portal as soon as you have been admitted to Florida State University. You will not have access to course enrollment as an undergraduate student until you have successfully completed orientation.

Directions to Activate your Permanent FSUID & Access your myFSU Portal:

When you applied to FSU you created a temporary FSUID, which is the email address you used to complete your admissions application. Now that you've been admitted to FSU, it is important that you replace your temporary FSUID with permanent FSUID. Your permanent FSUID will resemble your initials and allow you to access more information, including your FSU email address.

  1. Go to https://my.fsu.edu. On the right side of the page under the myFSU Login header click the "Activate your FSUID Account" link found below the Username (FSUID) and Password login boxes. Do not login using your temporary FSUID.
  2. On the next "FSUID Activation" page, you will be asked to enter your EMPLID number, First Name, Last Name, Last 5 digits of your SSN (Social Security Number or FSU assigned international student number), and Date of Birth. Click the "submit" button.
    • If you do not know your EMPLID number, click the "For Help with EMPLID and FSUID Account Management" link to the right of the EMPLID box. You will be taken to the "FSUID Account Management" page. Scroll down to the "Prospective Student (Temporary FSUID)" section and click the "EMPLID Lookup Tool" link. The "EMPLID Lookup Tool" link will take you to an "Activate Your Account Using Your Email Address" page. From here you should enter the email address you used during the admissions application process at FSU and click the "submit" button. This action will redirect you back to the page described at step 2 with your EMPLID already entered for you.
    • Complete the rest of the information requested on the page and click the "submit" button.
  3. The next page, you will see your FSUID assigned at the top of the page (highlighted in yellow). On this page you must create and confirm your FSUID password. This password must be at least 6 characters in length, contain at least one non-alphanumeric character (ex. - = + # $ * ( ) [ ] { } < > ! @ $) in the first 8 characters, must not contain any part of your name, must not use any obvious, easy–to–guess, or dictionary words, or use a date format. Once you have created a password, write down your FSUID and password in a secure place to remember and do not share with others. Click the "submit" button after you have written down your FSUID and submitted the password.
  4. On the next page, you will be given notice that your permanent FSUID and password have been established in the system. Click the "Go To Your FSUID Personal Page" button to confirm your account and log into your myFSU portal for the first time.
  5. In the future you will access your personalized myFSU portal directly by going to https://my.fsu.edu and using your permanent FSUID and password.

Welcome to the myFSU portal!

Through the myFSU portal, you can access Student Central, your @myfsu email, and Blackboard. Student Central is used for course search/enrollment, financial information, academic planning, and more. Your @myFSU email account is where FSU will communicate with you regularly, so check this often! In the portal, you can access your email account from the main page using the envelop icon on the left–hand side of the screen. Blackboard is the institution's academic courses management system information. Should you have any problems activating your FSUID, establishing your @myFSU email account, or if you need assistance using an application in my.fsu.edu or campus.fsu.edu, phone the FSU Service Center at 850.644.HELP (4357), or submit an email.
