Family–to–Family Mentoring Program
You are not alone!
Family Connection offers a mentoring program where members of the Family Connection Advisory Council act as your personal mentor. This family council member will share information that is helpful to you and your student’s transition throughout the course of a student's first year at Florida State. Communication will be through e–mail and telephone exchange — the manner in which you and your mentor may choose as your preference. Your mentor will also be available to you for any questions or concerns you may have throughout the year.
If you are interested, all you have to do is fill out our Mentor Application and tell us a little more about you and your student! Mentors and mentee families will be matched based on this information as closely as possible.
The Family–to–Family Mentoring program registration window is now closed for the 2015–2016 academic year!
After we receive your application, we will contact you about next steps!
Note: It will be useful to purchase a copy of The Naked Roommate: For Parents Only by Harlan Cohen at New Student Orientation for $15. This book will be references several times throughout the program. If you've already attended orientation and did not purchase this book, it can be found online where books are sold.
This book is a family member's guide for the new college student experience. This book details several issues that may arise in your student's transition to college and give tips and advice on how to support your students in those moments! We highly recommend this book for you!
